A break-trough product combining a super-high count rate linearity, ALV-developed Avalanche Photo Diode detector with an ALV-7004/USB Multiple Tau Digital Correlator in a single housing. Maximum light count rates of more than 80 Mcps, lowest afterpulsing and dark counts combined with an additional afterpulsing correction scheme makes this detector/correlator combination the ideal choice for DLS/SLS and DWS experiments, even rivalling ‘pseudo-cross correlation’ setups in terms of sub-µs lag time access. Small outlined, light-weighted and with remarkably small power consumption, it offers the most easy way to set-up one of the above mentioned experiments featuring ‘Light in - Correlation Function out’ technology at it’s best. WINDOWS 7 compatibility of the ALV-Software (05/2014)
Switching from WINDOWS-XP OS to WINDOWS-7 32-bit OS is directly possible for all ALV-Software Versions with version date from 01/2010 on. These versions are tested on WINDOWS 7 and no serious compatibility issues were found. A detailed instruction for the required preps to migrate from WINDOWS-XP to WINDOWS-7 and notes on how to create user accounts compatible with the
ALV-SOftware can be found in this PDF.
The ALV-7004/USB and ALV_7004/USB-FAST Multiple Tau Digital Correlator are now available ! (05/2012)
As an extension of the USB based range of ALV Multiple Tau correlators, the ALV-7004/USB and
ALV-7004/USB-FAST, a eight times faster version of the ALV-7004/USB is now available. Both correlators offer four independet correlators and likewise four independent inputs. Fitted into an identical housing with practically identical size and weight as the ALV-7002/SUB series, even the ALV-7004/USB-FAST consumes only a little more power than the ALV-7002/USB-25 (~750 mW compared to 650 mW) and is still usable for portable, battery driven
applications as well. Like the ALV-7002/USB series, both products can be ordered with the optional “highly stable clock generator option” (see the details here).
Outlook on the ALV-7064 Multiple Tau Digital Correlator (05/2011)
Built-up as a prototype series already, this correlator type will form an extendable platform of multi-input correlators ranging from 64, 96, 128 or even more independent input channels with auto correlation function generation at 100 ns initial sampling time (realtime) each. Each correlator is fed by a LVTTL counting input, input block multiplexers are foreseen to reduce the amount of cabling required, as well as allowing more sophisticated multiplexing schemes. The ALV-7002/USB-25 Multiple Tau Digital Correlator is now available ! (05/2011)
As an extension of the ALV-7002/USB, a four times faster version of this two input
correlator is now available. While keeping all other featuring compared to the ALV-7002/USB, the ALV-7002/USB-25 uses a 25 ns initial sampling time (instead of 100 ns) and can thus be used for experiments showing significantly faster fluctuation times than usually seen on DLS experiments (rotational diffusion, for example, in DDLS or FCS etc.). Fitted into an identical housing with practically identical size and weight, the ALV-7002/USB-25 consumes only a little more power than the
ALV-7002/USB (~650 mW compared to 550 mW) and is still usable for portable, battery driven applications as well. Like the ALV-7002/USB, this product can be ordered with the optional “highly stable clock generator option” (see the details here).
The ALV-7032 Multiple Tau Digital Correlator is now available ! (01/2011)
Another new member of the ALV-MultiCorr digital realtime correlator series is ready for shipment starting from early Q2/2011 on. Featuring 32 independent auto correlation functions (resp. 16 cross correlation functions) using a Multiple Tau
scheme with 50 ns (realtime) initial sampling time, this product should find its use in all multi-detection experiments with a higher number of independent detectors. 32 LVTTL counting inputs are featured on the correlator itself, a 32 channel LVDS to LVTTL converter is offered as option. Just like the ALV-7002/USB, this correlator can be equipped with a “highly stable stable clock generator option” (see the details here).
Communication to the host-PC is performed via a USB 2.0 interface with up to 10 MByte/s data transfer capability, a driver/control and graphical display software for WINDOWS (up to WIN-7, 32 or 64 bit version) is part of the default delivery.
The ALV-7002/USB Multiple Tau Digital Correlator is now available ! (11/2009)
From 12/2009 on, another new member of the ALV-MultiCorr Series further completes the range of Multiple Tau digital realtime correlators. The USB2 based ALV-7002/USB offering identical correlation performance compared to the ALV-7002, however at further reduced power consumption, footprint and
weight. Equipped with the possibility of evaluating up to five user I/O pins for level detection or frequency measurement, it can directly be used to replace all ALV-500X/600X correlators that were used not only to compute the correlation function, but for temperature/monitor diode measurements as well (as in ALV-Goniometer Systems). The extremely small power consumption of just 550 mW at full operating condition, the small weight (160 g) along with the small, but still very
robust anodized aluminum housing makes this product ideally suited for mobile use as well. As the first product of the ALV-MultiCorr correlator series this product can be ordered with the optional “highly stable clock generator option” (see the details here).
New features for the ALV-LinCorr (09/2009)
The ALV-LinCorr now features an additional “batch mode” as well as the possibility to “pre-delay” the direct input channel of the correlator. See all details here.
A new member of the MultiCorr Series - the ALV-7002
From 8/2008 on, a new member of the ALV-MultiCorr Series further completes the range of Multiple Tau digital realtime correlators. With two simultaneous auto- or cross-correlation functions being computed with 100 ns initial sampling time using the well known ALV-16/8 Multiple Tau channel spacing, it is the “most identical” replacement of the ALV-5000/E correlator series, however offering the well known advantages of the MultiCorr Series such as the lack of any input scaling required for input count rates up to several 10 Mcps, low power consumption etc. The ALV-7002 is primarily designed for standard single or dual detector DLS and FCS experiments or (pseudo) cross correlation experiments, were both cross correlation functions CROSS 0/1 and CROSS 1/0) can be computed simultaneously. After serving as a successful and reliable tool in many photon correlation experiments for nearly 20 years (accounting for all its predecessors), sales and production of the ALV-5000/60X0 Multiple Tau Digital Real Time Correlatoris is discontinued from September 2007 on (latest orders accepted by this date).
As an enhanced replacement for the ALV-5000/60X0 Multiple Tau Digital Real Time Correlator Series, ALV introduces the ALV-MultiCorr Digital Real Time Correlator Series per July 2007 with taking orders on the first models of this series by this date with delivery by early Q4/2007 ...
